Our Mission
At Moo Bueno Skincare, our mission is to create high-quality, natural products that you can trust. Based in Uvalde, Texas, we believe in using the best nature has to offer, with a focus on sustainability and local sourcing whenever possible. Our products are crafted for your family, by ours — rendered slowly, made in small batches, and built on the kind of care that only comes from knowing the hands behind every step.
We work directly with neighboring ranches in the Texas hill country. That closeness isn't just a sourcing choice — it's a promise to our community, to the land, and to you. Every jar is our way of nourishing your skin while supporting the families, the pastures, and the way of life that make Southwest Texas what it is.
Why We Use Tallow
1. Your skin recognizes it
Cows are mammals, and so are we. Tallow's fatty-acid profile is close to the oils your own skin makes, which is why it absorbs in rather than sitting on top.
2. Naturally rich in vitamins A, D, E and K
Those come from the fat itself, not from anything we add. We render slowly and gently so they arrive intact.
3. Short enough to read out loud
The Body Butter is three ingredients. The Honey Facial Wash is four. Kiss of Nature is five. Our best-selling moisturizer is six.
That's the whole label, not the highlights — and it's printed on every product page. The hardest word we use is bakuchiol, and we tell you how to say it. (Bah-KOO-chee-ol.)
Frequently Asked Questions
What is tallow?
Rendered beef fat — specifically suet, the firm fat from around the kidneys. It's what people used on their skin for generations, before skincare came in thirty-ingredient bottles.
Ours comes from grass-fed, grass-finished cattle raised on ranches near Uvalde. We render it slowly, which takes longer but keeps it clean and stops it smelling like a kitchen. That slow rendering is most of the work, and it's the difference between tallow you want on your face and tallow you don't.
Will it feel greasy?
Less than you'd expect. Because tallow is close to your skin's own oils, it absorbs rather than sitting on the surface — but it is rich, and a little goes a long way.
Start with less than you think you need. Warm it between your fingers first, then smooth it on. Most people who tell us it felt heavy were using about four times too much.
Does it clog pores?
Tallow has a reputation for being heavy, and it's worth understanding where that comes from — most of it is about petroleum-based products, not rendered fat.
What we can tell you is what's in it. Our Anti-Aging Moisturizer is six ingredients. The Body Butter is three. There's nothing in either to sit on your skin except the oils themselves. If you're unsure how your skin will respond, patch test a small area first, as you would with anything new.
I have sensitive skin. Where should I start?
Start unscented. Fragrance is the most common reason skin reacts to a product, and it's the easiest variable to remove.
Our Unscented Anti-Aging Moisturizer is five ingredients. The Unscented Body Butter is two — tallow and cold-pressed olive oil. Baby Bum Cream is our gentlest, fragrance-free and made for the whole family.
We can't advise on any skin condition, and we won't try. What we can do is tell you exactly what's in the jar, so you can decide, or take the list to someone who can.
Why does it smell different from other skincare?
Because there's almost nothing in it. Scented products use fragrance to smell like something; ours smell like what they're made of, plus one essential oil where there is one.
If you'd rather it smelled of nothing at all, every scented product we make has an unscented version.
Where does it come from?
The tallow comes from grass-fed, grass-finished cattle raised on neighboring Texas ranches — Cattlemen's Beef in Sabinal and Farm Fresh Beef in Knippa. The honey is raw and local to Uvalde.
We're GO TEXAN certified, which is the Texas Department of Agriculture's mark for products actually grown, raised or made in the state. Everything is rendered, mixed and jarred by hand on our farm in Uvalde.
